President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and welfare for Ghana’s military personnel, with a renewed pledge to complete and equip the Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari, located within the Central Command.

Delivering an address at the graduation ceremony of officer cadets at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, April 11, President Mahama emphasized that the well-being of service members and their families remains a central priority under his leadership.

“Soldiers and civilian staff, your health is also a priority,” he stated. “We are committed to completing and furnishing the Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari. Additionally, we have made budgetary allocations for a military field hospital in Tamale. Our goal is to ensure that you and your families have access to quality healthcare.”

President Mahama also outlined broader plans to improve conditions of service for both active duty personnel and veterans, highlighting initiatives to ensure fair compensation, sustainable funding, and timely retirement benefits.

“I am determined to systematically improve your conditions of service. GEHOC will be instrumental in providing sustainable financing for the Ghana Armed Forces,” he noted. “For our retired personnel who have sacrificed so much, we will ensure that your pensions and benefits are paid promptly.”

The President’s remarks drew applause from an audience comprising senior military officials, government dignitaries, and families of the graduating cadets.

This renewed commitment forms part of President Mahama’s broader agenda to modernize the Ghana Armed Forces and provide the recognition and support that service members deserve for their dedication to national duty.
