Manchester City have completed the signing of Egypt forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported fee of 70 million euros (£59m).

The 25-year-old has signed a contract with City until June 2029, with potential add-ons that could raise the total fee to £63m.

Marmoush has been in sensational form this season, scoring 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances, placing him just behind Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane in the goal-scoring race.

On his move to Manchester City, Marmoush expressed his excitement: “Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question. It’s a pleasure and an honour for me and my family to be representing Manchester City.”

He added, “The last two seasons have been great, but it is just the beginning for me.”

Marmoush, who has also earned 6 goals in 35 appearances for Egypt since his debut in 2021, brings versatility to City’s attack, having played as a striker, number 10, and winger.

On the pitch, he describes himself as fast, technical, and always eager to win. “My main strength is that I always want to win – that is from a character point of view,” Marmoush said.

City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Marmoush’s qualities: “He has outstanding pace and awareness, and his versatility makes him a really valuable asset to our squad.”

Before moving to Frankfurt in 2023, Marmoush had stints at VfL Wolfsburg, FC St Pauli, and VfB Stuttgart, accumulating 37 goals and 20 assists in 67 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

Alongside Marmoush, City also secured the signings of Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30m and Uzbekistan’s Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34m during the January transfer window.
