Ghana’s mobile money sector saw another major boost in April 2025, with transactions totaling GHC 365 billion—the highest monthly value recorded so far this year. This is according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest summary of economic and financial data.

The figure represents a 3.8% increase from the GHC 351.7 billion recorded in March 2025, reflecting a steady rise in the adoption and use of mobile financial services across the country.

The volume of mobile money transactions also grew, jumping from 764 million in March to 778 million in April. This continued growth underscores mobile money’s central role in advancing financial inclusion and simplifying digital payments for individuals and businesses alike.

The expansion has been largely driven by increasing mobile phone penetration, the growing agent network, and the convenience of digital platforms.

Analysts predict that the upward trend will persist, as Ghana’s digital economy continues to evolve and policy frameworks remain supportive of mobile financial innovations.
