A tragic mining pit collapse in Mpasatia, Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, with several others feared to be trapped underground.
Rescue operations have been ongoing since Tuesday morning, but as of now, no additional victims have been pulled from the rubble. Eyewitnesses reported that around five miners were in the pit when it collapsed.
The bodies of the two deceased individuals have been recovered and transported to the Afari Community Mortuary. Rescue teams are continuing their efforts to locate and rescue any remaining miners trapped at the site.
