President John Dramani Mahama has rejected claims of animosity between his administration and the judiciary, emphasizing that his government is committed to collaborating with the legal community.
During a meeting with the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Mahama addressed concerns about perceived tensions, reassuring that his government values its relationship with the judiciary as part of strengthening governance.
“Government is open to working with you, especially on our side of the political divide. There’s this perception that we have a problem with the legal fraternity, but that’s not the case,” Mahama stated.
He highlighted members of his administration, including Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, as examples of the government’s respect for the judiciary.
Mahama reaffirmed that his government bears no hostility toward the judiciary or the legal profession, saying, “We are not people who have any animosity toward the judiciary and the legal fraternity. Our doors are open.”
