Nations Football Club’s Brands Manager, Kennedy Boakye Ansah, has indicated that investing in Ghanaian football is “not worth it” after his team’s recent controversial Ghana Premier League match.
Nations FC controversially walked off the pitch during their crucial game against Holy Stars over the weekend. This dramatic exit followed the award of a second disputed penalty to their opponents. Tensions escalated in the 33rd minute when Holy Stars received their second spot-kick of the afternoon, a decision that sparked outrage among Nations FC players and coaching staff. The club later released a statement explaining their actions.
Boakye Ansah revealed that the club is contemplating whether to compete in the top flight again and confirmed they will file an official complaint with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
“Maybe we might disband Nations FC and forget about running football in this country because it’s not worth it. Whatever we saw today and what we were subjected to, it’s not worth it. We might have to advise ourselves,” he stated.
He added, “It depends on the report of the match commissioner, but we will file an official complaint to the GFA, and we will see what decision the FA will take. We are not interested in Ghana football anymore. We are tired.”
The match, held at the Ampain AAK II Arena, was of immense significance for Kassim Mingle’s side, who needed at least a draw to keep their title hopes alive with only one round of fixtures remaining.
