A peaceful protest by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region turned violent as clashes erupted with security forces.
The incident occurred following a disagreement over the protesters’ attempt to enter the local Electoral Commission (EC) office.
One person was injured during the confrontation as the large crowd overpowered police efforts to prevent them from accessing the office.
The NDC has launched a nationwide campaign demanding a forensic audit of the voter roll.
The party’s leadership in the Ashanti Region is yet to formally submit its petition to the EC.
