Protests Escalate as Youth Destroy Party Property and Block Roads in Volta Region
Disgruntled National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the Ho Central Constituency, Volta Region, set the party office ablaze in protest over their exclusion from recent presidential appointments made by President John Dramani Mahama.
Angry youth stormed the office in the Ho Housing area, causing significant damage by burning party property, including documents, plastic chairs, and tables.
The protest escalated as the youth blocked the main road with burning tires, leading to widespread chaos in the area.
The Ghana National Fire Service quickly responded to extinguish the flames and prevent further destruction.
In a statement, Deputy Constituency Secretary Mr. Theophilus Adzanku condemned the violent actions, calling them unprofessional and unnecessary.
He clarified that President Mahama is still finalizing his appointments and urged the protesters to seek clarification from party executives instead of resorting to destructive behavior.
Mr. Adzanku distanced the party executives from the incident, calling for calm and assuring that those responsible for the unrest would be identified and held accountable.
He appealed for patience as the President completes his appointment process.
