The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has significantly expanded its voter register for the upcoming presidential primaries, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026. The move, made under Article 13(1)(11) of the party’s constitution and a motion adopted on July 19, 2025, broadens the categories of officials eligible to vote.
The newly added voters include a wide array of former party leaders and dignitaries, aimed at increasing representation in the selection process.
Newly Eligible Voter Groups Include:
- All former Regional and Constituency Executives
- All former party card-bearing MPs and Parliamentary Candidates
- All past National Officers
- All former party card-bearing Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and MMDCEs
- Members of key party councils, including:
- National Council of Elders
- 30 Members of the National Council of Patrons
- 10 Members from each Regional Council of Elders
- 10 Patrons from each region
- 5 Members and 5 Patrons from each Constituency Council of Elders
Inclusion of External and Youth Wings:
- All current and former External Branch Executives
- TESCON leadership, including:
- TESCON Presidents from each recognised tertiary institution
- National TESCON Coordinator
- Regional TESCON Coordinators
- One Patron per recognised TESCON branch
According to a press release signed by Presidential Elections Committee Secretary, William Yemoah, all qualified individuals must register their names with their relevant party structures.
- External Branch Executives will receive an online registration link.
- Other eligible members can download the registration form from the party’s website and coordinate with their regional or constituency offices.
Deadline & Verification
The registration deadline is Friday, September 19, 2025. The party’s Presidential Elections Committee will conduct a comprehensive verification to ensure the integrity and credibility of the final register ahead of the primaries.
