The National Council (NEC) of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially approved Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, aka, Napo as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the general elections.
Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia nominated Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, as his choice for running mate.
In reaching his decision, Dr. Bawumia has engaged with several key party stakeholders, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, national party officers, the Majority Caucus of Parliament, and has presented his nominee to the National Executive Council.
General Secretary of the party, Justin Frimpong Koduah addressing the media today at the Alisa Hotel in Accra confirming the news to the media said, “The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which is the second highest decision-making body today to consider nomination of Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate as been considered as per Article 13(3) on the NPP constitution”.
