The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will open nominations for parliamentary primary elections for the Akan and La Dadekotopon constituencies on Monday, April 15, 2024.
In a statement issued and signed on Thursday, April 11 by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the nominations end on Wednesday, April 17, while elections will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
“An aspiring parliamentary candidate (APC) shall procure nomination forms after the payment of a non-refundable application fee of GH¢3,000.00 in banker’s draft in favour of the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters, Accra.
“To successfully file the nomination, an APC shall pay a non-refundable filing fee of thirty five thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢35,000.00) in banker’s draft in favour of the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters, Accra,” it added.
It however said that women, youth and persons with disabilities who aspire to a higher political office will enjoy a 50% rebate on the filing fees, which requires them to pay a non-refundable filing fee of GH¢17,500.
While the party defined a youth as an individual between the ages of 25 and 40, it also stated that the regional executive committee shall supervise the conduct of the electoral process, while approved rules and regulations governing the conduct of the elections will be made available to stakeholders.
