The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its 2024 parliamentary candidate for Agona West, Christopher Arthur, for defying a party directive issued by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, which prohibits internal campaigning for party positions at this time.
According to a letter jointly signed by the Agona West Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, and Secretary, Anthony Kwame Kum, Arthur allegedly organized an electoral area meeting on Sunday, July 6, 2025. The party described the gathering as a direct violation of internal rules and an act of administrative misconduct.
“Your action not only disregards the authority of the General Secretary but also undermines internal unity and the strategic efforts being made to prepare the party for the upcoming general election,” the letter read.
The suspension takes immediate effect, with party officials emphasizing the need for discipline and unity as the NPP positions itself for the next electoral cycle.
