Kwame Opoku struck a dramatic 93rd-minute winner as Asante Kotoko edged past True Democracy 2-1 to secure their place in the semifinals of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors showed resilience in a tightly contested match and will now face Berekum Chelsea in the next round.

Kotoko took an early lead in the 13th minute through Saaka Dauda, who finished calmly after a quick throw-in. They had a chance to extend their advantage when Kwame Opoku won a penalty, but Justice Blay’s spot-kick hit the post.

True Democracy leveled the score in the 62nd minute when Isaac Botchway’s free-kick deflected off the Kotoko wall and past the goalkeeper.

With the game heading towards a potential penalty shootout, Kwame Opoku seized a late opportunity in stoppage time, firing home the decisive goal to send Kotoko fans into jubilation.

Asante Kotoko will now prepare for their semifinal clash against Berekum Chelsea, with the winner set to meet either Attram De Visser or Golden Kick in the MTN FA Cup final.
