The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of Ghana’s 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
In a press release on December 2, 2024, the OSP affirmed that it is actively using its anti-corruption mandate to prevent, detect, and combat corruption, fraud, and other unfair practices related to the elections.
The office stressed the need for transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process, cautioning all individuals involved in vote counting at polling stations, collation centers, and the transmission and publication of results. It warned that falsifying vote counts or making false returns is a serious criminal offense.
Additionally, the OSP reminded the public that corrupt activities such as vote buying, vote selling, intimidation, threats or acts of violence, and impersonation of voters or electoral officers are strictly illegal.
Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng assured the public that the OSP is closely monitoring the election process and will take swift action against any instances of corruption. “The Office is fully aware of its mandate and will promptly address any such occurrences,” he stated.
