Accra, Ghana – John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Region Minister-Designate, has emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration in resolving the ongoing conflict in Nkwanta.
The recent violence in Nkwanta, which resulted in three deaths and forced the displacement of numerous residents, has created a climate of fear and uncertainty within the community.
During his vetting by the Appointments Committee, Gyapong outlined his plan to address the conflict by engaging with local leaders, including chiefs and community representatives, to establish a dedicated conflict resolution committee.
“When I am given the nod, I will consult my regional coordinating council, the security coordinating council, and again consult chiefs and stakeholders in Nkwanta first, and we will see how we are going to solve this issue,” Gyapong stated.
He acknowledged that resolving the conflict will require a multi-faceted approach, including ongoing dialogue, mediation, and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders.
Gyapong emphasized that restoring peace and stability in Nkwanta is a top priority and that he will work tirelessly to achieve a peaceful resolution.
