The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a warning to the public after witnessing a sharp increase in fire outbreaks this festive season.

Over 100 fire incidents were recorded in just one week, with most attributed to domestic fires and bush burning.

Public Relations Officer Alex King Nartey attributed this alarming surge to public disregard for fire safety measures. He urged the public to exercise caution, avoid open flames near flammable materials, and ensure all electrical appliances are switched off when not in use.

“We recorded over 100 fires right before Christmas,” Nartey stated. “This highlights the need for continued public education on fire safety measures.”

The GNFS emphasizes the importance of public cooperation in preventing further fire incidents and ensuring a safe and enjoyable festive season for all.
