The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has instructed the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to initiate the arrest of Yaa Serwaa Gyan, a geologist who allegedly breached the terms of her study leave bond.

According to the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report, Gyan took study leave with pay but failed to return to her post upon completion of her studies, leaving a bond debt of GH¢120,000 unpaid.

Samuel Atta-Mills, the Ranking Member of PAC, emphasized the need for accountability and directed the Ministry to provide a full update within 30 days.

“If she has travelled to the USA, involve the police—we will find her there. The government cannot continue to fund individuals for education only for them to disappear after completing their studies. That’s unacceptable,” he stated.

He also called for swift action against the bond guarantor, urging law enforcement to follow up and ensure restitution.
