Paris Saint-Germain appear to be building a footballing dynasty under Luis Enrique, after dismantling another European powerhouse—this time routing Real Madrid 4-0—to book their place in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
Fresh off their emphatic 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final just five weeks ago, PSG are showing no signs of slowing down.
While some have downplayed the Club World Cup as little more than a pre-season exhibition, PSG’s approach on the pitch tells a different story. The tournament is being fiercely contested, and Enrique’s side are treating every match like a statement of intent.
After a minor setback against Brazilian club Botafogo, the Parisians have surged through the competition, overpowering Atletico Madrid and now Real Madrid by identical 4-0 scorelines. They also dispatched Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich 2-0—despite finishing that match with just nine players.
Opponents have struggled to match PSG’s blistering pace, precision passing, and relentless pressing. In the semifinal, they led 3-0 within 24 minutes, courtesy of a Fabian Ruiz brace and an Ousmane Dembélé strike. Gonçalo Ramos added a late fourth to seal the demolition.
Next, they face Chelsea in Sunday’s final in New Jersey.
“Luis Enrique has created a monster,” remarked Dazn pundit Andros Townsend.
Former Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale added: “They look like a team built to dominate for years. They’re young, ruthless, and out to humiliate their rivals.”
