Parliament has approved the first batch of ministers nominated by President John Mahama, following their successful vetting by the Appointments Committee.

The Committee unanimously recommended Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam and Majority Leader; John Jinapor, MP for Yapei-Kusawgu; and Dr. Dominic Ayine, MP for Bolgatanga East, for their respective ministerial roles.

The motion for their approval was debated in Parliament on Tuesday, January 21, with the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, presiding over the session. After extensive deliberations, both the Majority and Minority caucuses agreed that the three nominees had demonstrated the competence and leadership needed for their positions based on their past achievements.

The Second Deputy Speaker confirmed the appointments, with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson approved as Minister of Finance, John Jinapor as Minister of Energy, and Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.

This approval marks a significant step in President Mahama’s efforts to establish a strong and capable government to tackle the country’s pressing challenges.
