Parliament has officially approved the appointments of three ministers following a heated debate on the floor of the House on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

The confirmed nominees include George Opare-Addo as Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Abla Dzifa Gomashie as Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Emelia Arthur as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Mr. Opare-Addo is tasked with addressing the challenges faced by Ghana’s youth, focusing on key areas such as employment, education, and empowerment programs.

Madam Gomashie, a strong advocate for the arts, is expected to boost tourism by promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and increasing its economic impact through the tourism sector.

Meanwhile, Madam Arthur will be working to improve sustainability and productivity in the fisheries and aquaculture industries, focusing on their long-term development.

The Appointments Committee of Parliament had vetted the nominees on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, carefully reviewing their qualifications and the proposed plans for their respective ministries.
