Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Manchester City, keeping him at the club until 2025.

While City has yet to officially comment on the news, multiple sources have confirmed that the Spanish manager has extended his stay, marking his tenth year at the helm.

Since joining City in 2016, Guardiola has transformed the club, winning 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles. His contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but the new deal ensures his continued leadership. Although it’s been suggested that the extension may include an option for an additional year, the details are yet to be clarified.

Guardiola’s tenure has been marked by historic achievements, including guiding City to become just the second English men’s team to win the Treble—comprising the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the same season. He also led City to become the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles and break the record for most points in a single campaign with 100.

Currently, City sits second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Liverpool, although they are going through an unusual four-match losing streak in all competitions. Guardiola acknowledged the team’s struggles after their 2-1 defeat at Brighton, saying, “Maybe after seven years winning six Premier Leagues, maybe one year another team deserves it.”

Guardiola has previously extended his contract with Manchester City in May 2018, November 2020, and November 2022, further solidifying his commitment to the club.
