The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested ten individuals and confiscated nine firearms during a series of targeted operations in Akwatia ahead of the upcoming by-election.
The seizures, which include eight pump-action guns and one locally made single-barrel weapon, were made through snap checks and intelligence-led patrols aimed at deterring illegal possession of arms and ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

- August 22, near St. Dominic Hospital:
Police intercepted a vehicle driven by Bernard Kumi Ofosu and recovered a Tulpar double-barrel pump-action gun, four AAA live cartridges, and two blank rounds. Though Ofosu presented a firearm license, he remains in custody as authorities verify the documentation. - Akwatia Y-Junction:
Joshua Amenuku was arrested after officers found 15 live BB cartridges on him. A follow-up search at his home uncovered an ADLER Tulpar pump-action gun and five additional cartridges. - Boadua Livingstone Checkpoint:
Enoch Asiedu and Chinese national Lu Youyan were taken into custody after four live cartridges were found in their Toyota Hilux. The ammunition reportedly belongs to their employer, identified only as Mohammed, who is currently being sought by police. - August 23, Boadua Livingstone Junction:
Pieterson Joseph was arrested with an ADLER Tulpar pump-action gun and 46 cartridges found in his vehicle. He admitted ownership of the weapon. - Staff Village, Boadua:
A Toyota Tundra with registration WR 5535-13 was intercepted, revealing three pump-action guns—Pardus, Hulglu Atroe, and an unidentified brand. Stephen Nkansah, who claimed ownership of two guns and stated the third belonged to his chief, was detained.
