Renowned Bible teacher and best-selling author, Beth Moore, has shared on X that she is in “urgent need” of surgery to address a long-standing back condition.
Moore said she has endured chronic pain for several years, ranging from a constant ache to near agony.
While the exact date for her surgery is still uncertain, she anticipates it might take place as early as August.
Beth Moore is the president of Living Proof Ministries, an organisation she established in 1994 to help women deepen their faith through the study of scripture. Moore has recently been in the spotlight for her departure from the Southern Baptist Convention and the release of her memoir, All My Knotted-Up Life.
She wrote on X: “The severe compression on the nerves in my back not only causes pain to shoot all over but also numbness in my feet. And I don’t always know when it’s going to get intense.
“This has gone on so long, I can’t even imagine being out of pain,” she continued. “I’m so happy and full of hope that I won’t have to live like this forever!!”
Moore, 67, reached out to her 995,000 social media followers for prayer.
She wrote on X: “Please pray for me as you feel led and remember that the Lord is my joy. He sustains my spirit and keeps me strong.”
She added: “He will help me through these next 8 weeks!”
Moore first disclosed her chronic pain in May, detailing her visits to numerous doctors and multiple MRIs to seek solutions for her “multiple skeletal issues”.
“I’ve dealt with physical pain for a long time, seeing it as part of God’s plan for me to rely on Him. It’s definitely one of my thorns in the flesh,” she shared. “I have a high pain tolerance, but last night, for the first time in years, I cried to Keith about it.”
While she has tried medication, Moore mentioned needing high doses that impair her mental clarity.
Despite her struggles, Moore remains upbeat.
