Manchester City have completed the signing of Rayan Cherki from Lyon in a deal worth £30.45 million, with the French attacking midfielder signing a five-year contract that runs until 2030.
The 21-year-old, who made his senior debut for France just last week, is eligible to feature for City in the upcoming Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on 14 June.
Cherki arrives at the Etihad Stadium with a wealth of experience, having made nearly 200 appearances for Lyon. He has already earned two international caps, scoring once for France.
“This is a dream for me,” said Cherki following the announcement. “To join a club like Manchester City and take the next step in my career here is something very, very special.”
His signing marks City’s third acquisition in just two days. The club also secured Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves for £31 million on Monday and brought in Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli earlier on Tuesday as back-up.
With City reinforcing key positions ahead of a packed summer schedule, Cherki is expected to bring creativity and attacking flair to Pep Guardiola’s squad.
