Real Madrid moved within a point of La Liga leaders Barcelona after securing a 2-0 victory over Getafe.
Jude Bellingham, the summer signing from Borussia Dortmund, played a pivotal role in the win. The English midfielder converted a penalty after Antonio Rudiger was fouled during a corner. Bellingham then turned provider, threading a pass through to Kylian Mbappe, who finished with aplomb.
Getafe had their moments, with Christantus Uche forcing a fine save from Thibaut Courtois. John Patrick also hit the woodwork with a powerful strike.
Real Madrid could have extended their lead further. Brahim Diaz missed a chance to lob the goalkeeper, and Fede Valverde’s shot was saved. Mbappe also had an opportunity to add to his goal tally but couldn’t quite find the target.
With this win, Real Madrid keep the pressure on Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table.
