Rev. George Owusu-Mensah, the Head Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Amakom, Kumasi, and the composer of the beloved gospel song “M’atwen Awurade Anim” (“A Wait on God”), has passed away.
He died early Sunday morning, as confirmed by Rev. Mrs. Mary Fosu, Senior Associate Pastor of the church.
Rev. Owusu-Mensah dedicated his life to providing spiritual guidance, counseling, and leadership to his congregation, combining his roles as both a minister and a gospel musician.
Through his music, he expressed profound faith and shared messages of hope, love, and redemption.
His song “M’atwen Awurade Anim” continues to inspire the Christian community, fostering optimism and unwavering faith. Known for its uplifting lyrics and heartfelt melodies, Rev. Owusu-Mensah’s music played a significant role in evangelism, outreach, and community building.

Rev. George Owusu-Mensah was the elder brother of Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, and the father of Kofi Owusu Peprah, who is also a gospel musician.
