A 27-year-old Senior High School graduate, Kweku Twia, has been arrested in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District for allegedly murdering a 75-year-old spiritual healer and injuring three others in Twifo Kwame Alerk, Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District of the Central Region.

Eyewitnesses report that the violence began with a heated argument between Twia and his father. The altercation escalated, and Twia allegedly attacked his father with a machete, causing severe injuries.

Following this, Twia reportedly moved through the community and attacked Ante Amataa, a respected spiritual healer, striking her multiple times with the machete, resulting in her death. He then fled into the bush but later returned, attacking and injuring two more people.

The community was left in shock and fear by the series of violent acts, leading to a public announcement that facilitated Twia’s swift arrest by the police.

Nana Kojo Damptey, the Linguist of Twifo Kwame Alerk, suggested that substance abuse may have played a role in Twia’s uncharacteristic violence.

The body of the deceased spiritual healer has been taken to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital morgue, and the three injured victims are receiving treatment at the same facility. Police have launched a full investigation to determine the motive behind the attacks.
