President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a sobering evaluation of Ghana’s current state, declaring that the country is in the midst of a crisis.
In his first State of the Nation Address of his second term, presented to Parliament on Thursday, February 27, Mahama did not shy away from the seriousness of the situation.
“I am sad to report that the state of our nation is not good,” he said, underscoring the severe economic challenges and the unprecedented hardships being endured by Ghanaians.
The president noted that the upcoming National Economic Dialogue, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, along with the Finance Minister’s budget presentation on March 11th, would provide a comprehensive overview of the nation’s economic struggles and proposed solutions.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Mahama reaffirmed his resolve to confront the crisis head-on, honoring the mandate entrusted to him by the people.
“Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges,” he remarked. “I have therefore not come here to lament on the state of our country, though there is much to lament about.”
