A sudden tragedy occurred in Akyem Anamase, Eastern Region, last Friday when Chief Inspector Godwin Beniba, Station Officer at the local police station, collapsed and passed away during his wedding ceremony.
The groom, who had arrived at the Anamase Hotel to await his bride, Florence Debrah, began feeling dizzy shortly after reaching the venue. Before anyone could assist, he collapsed and was quickly rushed to the Anamase Clinic. Tragically, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The devastating incident left the hundreds of guests, including fellow police officers who had traveled from across the country to witness the joyful occasion, in shock and disbelief. What was supposed to be a celebration of love turned into a scene of sorrow, with the food and drinks prepared for the wedding remaining untouched.
The family of the deceased, who had traveled from the Northern Region, made arrangements for the body to be transferred to the Oda Government Hospital for an autopsy.
The entire community is now in mourning, and the tragic loss has cast a dark shadow over the usual Christmas festivities, leaving residents deeply saddened by this unexpected and heartbreaking event.
