The victim, identified as ‘Pooley’, was fatally stabbed five times during an altercation after the match and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital despite efforts to save his life.
According to eyewitness accounts, tensions flared between rival supporters after the game, escalating into violence.
The circumstances leading to the attack remain unclear, but it’s reported that security personnel at the venue struggled to control the situation.
The incident occurred at the Nana Konamansah Park, where Nsoatreman FC secured a 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko in a heated Week 19 fixture of the Ghanaian top-flight league.
The match was already tense, with players exchanging blows on the pitch after the final whistle.³
Asante Kotoko has condemned the incident and called for calm among its supporters.
