A violent incident marred the 3-day 2024 Senior High School (SHS) Girls Soccer Final held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
According to police reports, a fight broke out between students from Armed Forces SHS and Islamic SHS during the games. Officers intervened swiftly to restore order.
Disturbingly, as police attempted to separate the students, they were pelted with stones.
One officer, G/Const. Boakye Bismark of the Ashanti Region SWAT Unit, sustained a head injury.
Thankfully, he received medical attention at a nearby hospital and was discharged on the same day.
The Asokwa District Police have identified some suspects and are actively pursuing them to assist with their investigation.
