Voting in the 2024 general elections has officially concluded across polling stations in Ghana, with the counting of ballots now underway.

The Electoral Commission has held several media briefings to update the public on the ongoing process.

Multiple incidents were reported throughout the day, including arrests, a reported death, and accusations exchanged between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). One of the more notable incidents occurred in the Obuasi East constituency, where a confrontation broke out between the NDC’s Communications Officer and military personnel. The officer reportedly assaulted two soldiers who had attempted to visit the polling station.

There were also allegations of ballot stuffing and vote-buying in various constituencies, adding to the tensions on election day.

In the Northern Region, the Ghana Police Service arrested four individuals involved in a shooting incident at Nyankpala, which resulted in one death and another injury. The suspects—Majid Issah, Fodi Issiage Kamara, Yakubu Simalia, and Alhaji Bashiru Mohamed—are in custody.

In the Okaikwei South constituency, confusion arose at the St. Theresa’s School polling station when a group, allegedly linked to the NPP, was found with suspected fake printed ballots. The disturbances led to a temporary disruption of the voting process.
