Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a second bid from Newcastle United for striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, following his dramatic late brace in Tuesday’s 3-2 EFL Cup victory over West Ham United.

Newcastle had increased their offer to £55 million, up from an initial £50 million bid earlier in the week. However, Wolves have made it clear they are unwilling to part ways with the Norwegian international, citing both his importance to their Premier League survival hopes and the limited time left in the transfer window, which closes on Monday.

Strand Larsen, 24, only recently joined Wolves on a permanent basis from Celta Vigo for £23 million after a successful loan spell. His impact has already been significant, highlighted by his two goals in the final eight minutes that sealed Wolves’ comeback against West Ham.

While Wolves remain reluctant to sell, manager Vitor Pereira did not completely rule out the possibility of a transfer, stating post-match that although he hopes to retain the striker, “football is unpredictable.”

Newcastle’s renewed interest comes amid uncertainty over Alexander Isak’s future. The Swedish forward is reportedly pushing for a move to Liverpool and has yet to feature for Newcastle this season, leaving the club eager to bolster their attacking options.
