Former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, has emerged victorious in the Ashanti Regional Council of State election, securing a decisive win with 49 votes.
The results, announced on Monday, February 17, 2025, showed Obimpeh leading with a significant margin. Nkansah Boadu Nana Ayeboafo received 35 votes, while Daniel Anarfi Yamoah received only 1 vote. None of the other candidates received any votes.
Out of the expected 86 votes, 85 valid votes were cast, with no rejected ballots. The outcome reflects strong support for Obimpeh’s candidacy from the electorate in the Ashanti Region.
Obimpeh’s victory comes after the suspension of the initial election last week, which was marred by chaos during the voting process.
