A 25-year-old police constable, Godfred Dapaah, tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning during a heavy thunderstorm in Cape Coast.
The incident reportedly occurred while Constable Dapaah—affectionately known among his colleagues as “Toner”—was speaking on the phone with his girlfriend amidst worsening weather conditions. According to eyewitnesses, he appeared unfazed by the intensifying rainfall until a sudden lightning strike hit him directly.
Emergency efforts to resuscitate the young officer were unsuccessful.
Constable Dapaah was known for his commitment to duty and his warm, approachable personality. His untimely death has left colleagues and community members in deep shock and mourning.
