Two men are reported dead and two others are battling for their lives after a fierce clash at a mining site.

The incident happened at Mfante, a town in Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North District, in the Ashanti Region on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Bodies of the deceased, identified as Abdul Samed Razak, 35 and Hashmil Usman, 25, have been deposited in the morgue.

Reports said Razak and Usman were part of a civilian team, who were providing security at a community mining site.

Suddenly, a security taskforce, allegedly from the state, also stormed the same mining site, leading to the fierce clash.

In the ensuing battle, the taskforce, allegedly, shot at their helpless opponents, leading to two deaths and two serious injuries.

Members of the taskforce, who were said to be many and heavily armed, also burnt mining equipment that they saw at the site.

No arrests have been made yet when the report was being filed, but sources said police have started their investigations.

Meanwhile, other reports said the killing of the two men has sparked tension in Mfante as there are fears of reprisal attacks.
