The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced that the 2025 school placement exercise will begin on September 17, 2025.
The announcement was made by GES Director-General, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, during a press briefing on Wednesday, August 27, following the release of the provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to Prof. Davis, students who secure placements will report to their assigned schools between October 18 and October 20, 2025 to begin the academic year.
To minimize placement-related errors, GES has introduced a review window from September 1 to September 8, 2025, during which candidates can verify and confirm key details—including gender, school code, and programme code—on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal at www.cssps.gov.gh.
“This verification period aims to reduce errors in the placement process,” Prof. Davis said. “Candidates will be supported with an explainer video to guide them and their parents through the process.”
He strongly cautioned parents and candidates against paying money to influence school placements, emphasizing that the process will be transparent, fair, and strictly based on merit.
