An aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Agyapong has said that Ghanaians are yearning for a businessman like him to be president of Ghana. In his view, Ghanaians have tried lawyers, soldiers, and economists as presidents but they are not satisfied with the way the country has been managed. Therefore, he said, as a businessman, Ghanaians see him as the hope “What Ghanaians are looking for is a bold honest leader, the situation they are in they have tried politicians who are lawyers, soldiers, and economists,  and still Ghanaians fill that it is not enough the way things are going, therefore, Kennedy Agyapong is the best, let us give him a chance and see what a businessman can also do,” he told journalists after casting his vote in the November 4 presidential primaries of the NPP on Saturday. He further said he will defeat the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) former president John Dramani Mahama if he is elected. The Assin Central lawmaker “I will beat Mahama hands down, no doubt about it. everywhere what Ghanaians are expecting is an honest and bold leader.” The much-awaited election of a flagbearer for the governing NPP is currently under way at 277 polling centres across the country. Over 200,000 delegates are expected to vote in the exercise which is expected to end at 3:00pm. The contestants are; Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former MP for Mampong Francis Addai-Nimoh.
