The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has assured that all preparations for the upcoming 2024 general election are complete, with the final processes, deployments, and training scheduled to conclude today, November 29. The election is set for December 7.

Speaking at an event in Accra, where all 12 presidential candidates pledged to maintain peace during the election, Mensa emphasized the Commission’s commitment to conducting a transparent and credible election. “We are ready. All our materials are in place, and our training is ongoing. We will announce the results reflecting the will of the people, and we encourage all presidential candidates to respect the outcome,” she said.

This assurance comes despite a reported shortage of presidential and parliamentary ballot papers in five constituencies in the Volta Region—Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West. The EC has responded promptly to the issue, with plans to print the missing ballots at Acts Commercials Printing House in Accra.

The Commission has informed all presidential candidates of the situation and outlined its plan to resolve the shortage. Additional ballots will be printed and distributed on time to avoid any disruption to the election. To ensure transparency, the EC has requested that each political party and independent candidate send two representatives to oversee the printing process.

The observation will take place on Friday morning, with Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chair of Operations, assuring the public that the Commission is fully committed to ensuring a smooth and fair election.
